The origins of a European ambition
Fondis Electronic, founded in 1982, initially specialised in scientific instrumentation and portable analysers. With its extensive experience in the distribution and maintenance of spectrometers, the French company quickly developed an ambition : to design its own instruments, tailored to the needs of its customers and technologically advanced. In 2016, FEnX, the first 100% French portable XRF analyser, was born. A device designed for home inspectors : robust, reliable and tailor-made for the field.
This desire for independence and innovation took on a new dimension in 2019 with the acquisition of Analyticon in Germany. This meeting marked the beginning of a joint project: to create a range of European portable XRF analysers capable of competing with the world leaders.
French and German engineers pooled their expertise. Prototypes, tests and patent applications followed, leading to the launch of the FEnX-T in 2024. A portable spectrometer designed for industry, robust and easy to use, with the ‘T’ referring to tube technology.
The FEnX-T: a combination of robustness and precision
The FEnX-T was designed to meet the needs of professionals in recycling and non-destructive testing, two sectors where speed and reliability of results are paramount.
Its greatest strength lies in its dynamic mode, which allows analysis in a matter of seconds without complex settings. This plug-and-play approach makes the device accessible to everyone, even non-specialist operators.
In the field, the FEnX-T has been designed to withstand the most demanding environments: rain, dust, shocks. It also features an intuitive interface, combining a touch screen, physical buttons and a joystick, to suit industrial use. Finally, its hot-swappable battery ensures continuity of use, a major advantage for production or sorting sites where every minute counts.
A growing family
Today, the FEnX range has become a veritable family, catering to different professions and levels of requirement:
- FEnX (2016): the pioneer, dedicated to home inspectors.
- FEnX 2 (2021): an improved version, faster and more ergonomic.
- FEnX-T (2024): the tool designed for metal analysis, the result of Franco-German collaboration.
- FEnX-T Starter (2025): the latest addition, designed to focus on the essentials while remaining powerful.
Like its big brother, the FEnX-T Starter’s strengths are its robustness, speed and ease of use. However, it focuses on the most common metals: iron, steel, copper, brass, lead, zinc and stainless steel. It is more affordable, aimed at professionals who want an effective instrument without more advanced features.
A European vision of innovation
Behind these products lies a whole strategy. The Physitek Group, which now includes Fondis Electronic in France, Analyticon in Germany and Sirio Analitix in Italy, embodies a clear vision: to offer high-performance European scientific instrumentation adapted to the realities of the field.
By combining organic growth, strategic acquisitions and a corporate culture on a human scale, the group has established itself as a major player in portable spectrometry. Its strengths include stable teams, rare technical expertise and a constant desire to bring innovation closer to the concrete needs of users.
What about tomorrow ?
